INSTRUCTIONS ON CALIBRATING YOUR

ADVANTAGE / SOLUS / DEL SOL PRINTER

Determine the type of media that you have.  Look at the back of the labels or tags.  If there is a black bar across the label or tag, then you will calibrate your printer using BAR.  If the backing of your media is blank, then you will use the GAP option to calibrate your printer.

1.  Exit to a DOS prompt.

Windows 95/98 users:  Go to Start-> Programs-> MS-DOS Prompt.

Windows 3.1 users:  Go to File-> Exit.

2.  At the MS-DOS prompt, type in   EDIT   and then press the Enter key.  This will take you to the MS-DOS Editor.

3.      In the Editor, type the following exactly as it appears.  Make sure that you use all CAPS and the number Zero:

           ! 0 0 0 0                [Make sure there is a space between each character]

           VARIABLE INDEX SETTING 0

VARIABLE FEED_TYPE GAP

           VARIABLE INDEX SETTING CALIBRATE

        VARIABLE WRITE

           END

4.      Next, send the file to the printer by going to File -> Print.  (You may use your mouse OR you can hold down the Alt key and press F; then P for Print.)  Select OK to print the complete document.

***NOTE***If your printer is a SERIAL printer, you will need to go to File -> Save.  Name the file CAL.TXT and save the file.  Go to File -> Exit to return to the DOS prompt.  At the DOS prompt, type in:             COPY CAL.TXT COM1           then Enter.

The green Ready light on the printer will blink off and on, and one or more labels will be ejected and jogged while the printer calibrates.  When the ready light returns to solid green, the calibration is complete.

When the calibration is complete, turn the printer OFF.  Complete the calibration by turning the printer back on and pressing the FEED button to eject a label.
